Windsor's U18's made it safely through to the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup following a 1-0 win away at Chesham United.
Below is the report courtesy of Chesham United.
Chesham suffered a blow when Tom Cocker was injured in the warm-up and replaced by Adam Booth. Windsor hit the outside of the post with a shot in the second minute, but after that Chesham looked the more likely to score and forced the opposing keeper to make a couple of smart saves. However in the 39th minute Windsor scored what proved to be the winner, when a quick ball through the centre allowed the visiting striker to run on and score with a well-placed shot into the corner. Three minutes later a curling shot from Adam Booth again forced the keeper to dive to save.
Chesham lost Matt Sear to injury at half-time. Early in the second half a dangerous raid was ended by a fine tackle from Alex Ramsay. Chesham went on to have the bulk of possession but rarely threatened, and midway through the half Alex Ramsay was also forced to go off injured. After 74 minutes Rob Harris broke forward and set up Josh Burks for a shot that the opposing keeper dived to keep out, then a rare excursion forward by Windsor forced Tom Gowers to make a smart save low to his right. Ten minutes from time a fine run from Josh Burks seemed to have drawn a foul just inside the area but nothing was given. Chesham's last chance came in stoppage time when a corner was not cleared and Pierce Kelly stabbed the loose ball over the bar.
