Windsor Res suffered late drama for the 2nd week in a row, in a game Windsor Res dominated they let a 3-2 lead slip away late on to concede with the last kick of the game to go down 4-3 to a fortunate Iver Heath Rovers.
Windsor Res went into the game bolstered with a strong squad and full compliments of subs but were without a recognised goalkeeper which showed early doors, but it was Windsor who dominated the early chances with horrible winds it was hard for both teams to look after the ball, but Windsor made the first clear cut chance as Owen Richardson had a shot rattle against the crossbar a superb effort from 30 yards out. Iver however made the breakthrough as the Iver midfielder ran through and fired home giving stand in keeper Daniel Sharp no chance. Windsor responded and equalised moments later thanks to captain Jack Evans setting up fellow centre back and man of the match Ben Chauhan who sneaked in at the front post to fire home, it was all Windsor now and chances were being created at the premium as Cheyenne Cripps went close twice both times being denied by the Iver keeper. Windsor had another chance before half time as Owen Richardson set up Haydon Richardson but Haydon could not keep his effort on target, both sides went in level at the break 1-1.
2nd half it was more of the same Windsor had the early opportunities as again but failed to convert and were punished by Heath who took the lead thanks to assistance by the referee after a Heath player got away with a dangerous tackle and the referee allowed play to carry on and the Iver player finishing smartly over the on rushing Windsor keeper. Windsor made changes as they now trailed again, and responded quickly as substitute Rajan Gill put through Haydon Richardson only for Richardson to be fouled in the box giving Windsor a penalty which saw Richardson dust himself up and slot home to equalize, Windsor kept going and took the lead with a fine individual strike by youngster Travis Hodge who cut in on his left foot to fire past the Iver keeper, surely looked like the winning goal but Iver and the referee had other ideas and with 5 minutes to go the referee gave Iver a penalty as he adjudged the Windsor player to have nudged the Iver player in the box from a long throw in, Iver converted and equalised, Windsor went chasing for the winner in the last seconds of the game with a draw looking the likely result but a long punt forward by the Iver keeper saw caused confusion at the back which saw the Iver striker nip and to set up the winning goal, it was not the result Windsor were hoping for but a good team performance and new faces showed gelled in nicely. Windsor will hope to get back to winning ways this saturday as they host Langley.
