Windsor Res suffered a shock defeat to division one side Slough Heating Res to be knocked out of the East Berkshire League cup after extra time as Windsor Res throw away a 2 goal lead to lose in extra time 5-2.
Windsor Res started the game with a new look side compared to their previous game but started well as they took the lead through Calvin Stewart after good work by Cheyenne Cripps who forced the Heating keeper to make a save the rebound fell nicely for Stewart who smashed home from 6 yards out. Windsor doubled their lead moments later as Cripps slotted home after being put through nicely by Liridon Daka. Windsor were looking comfortable and despite the heavy wind conditions were dealing with anything Heating were throwing at them but just minutes before half time Windsor failed to clear a long throw allowing heating to score from a deflected shot giving keeper Rob Mcdermott no chance. Windsor led at the break 2-1
2nd half Windsor again kept Heating at bay as both teams failed to create any clear cut chances, Windsor did have chances to kill the game off but lacked quality in the final third, midway through the 2nd half the game changed as Windsor lost midfield maestro Owen richardson to a straight red card as the referee started to show his authority on the game, despite being called so many names by the opposition the ref showed Richardson a red card for handbags after suffering a horrific tackle and stamp. Windsor kept compact with their 10 men and were not assisted by the referee again as Heating had a player this time who reacted badly to a tackle only to be given a yellow card. Windsor were defending deep and were holding on and with minutes remaining Heating got a goal late on despite calls for offside the flag stayed down as Heating scrambled the ball home and sent the game into extra time as the goal was given.
With 10 men, no subs available for Windsor and many players injured Windsor were always going to be second favourites and this showed early in extra time as again Heating scored from a corner as Windsor switched off allowing the heating player to sneak in and tap home. Heating made it 4-2 moments later as the Windsor defence allowed a long ball to beat them, Heating then lost a player for a straight red card but the game was over as Heating got another goal late on to kill any comeback. Windsor can now focus on the league as they host Slough Central this Saturday.
