Saturday 19th September 2020Windsor are out of the FA Vase after a shock 3-0 defeat at home to United Counties Division 1 side Long Buckby.
In a tie that should have seen the hosts through, it would be the visitors that would walk away the victors against a Windsor side that couldn;t seem to get going.
It didn't start that way and Windsor actually had numerous chances in the opening 20 minutes where they should have not only taken the lead but also put the tie to bed.
Danny Horscroft had an early goal bound chance blocked and George Gould sent a coupe of efforts wide.
Billy Montague had Windsor's best chance of the opening exchanges when he was left with only Jake Bull to beat but the keeper was just able to get a hand on the ball as Montague tried to lift it past him.
From there it went pretty much downhill for Windsor and Long Buckby saw there chance to get a grip on the game when Jimmy Smith was left opem to slot home Max Johnson's cross.
The lead was doubled shortly after half time when Halim Halim's long ball was missed by the home defence and appeared to bounce over Sam Bunting before being headed in on the line by Smith.
Mid-way through the half and the tie was over when Max Johnson curled an effort round Bunting from the edge of the area.
Windsor looked to have been handed a chance of a consolation goal in the closing minutes when referee Olive Kaya pointed to the spot for a handball only for the assistant to call him over for a foul on Sam COles which was just outside.
Another disappointing loss for Windsor who will go again when they face Reqading City at Stag Meadow on Tuesday Eveing.
