Saturday 3rd November 2018Windsor produced another fine Vase performance seeing off a Chichester side who boasted an excellent home record, conceding only 8 goals in 13 games prior to Saturday.
As expected the home side started strongly, Windsor stood firm for 20 minutes allowing Chichester possession, but reducing them to long range efforts and half chances.
At the top end of the pitch, Andy Ingram starting his 3rd consecutive match as a forward, gave the Chichester defensive line a torrid time.
Ingram chased every ball and competed for every header. His work rate never slackening.
Dan Roberts fed on Ingram's knock downs and two moments of quick feet created chances for Matt Stockill and Fabio Nunes.
The game exploded into life in the 39th minute, Chichester' Dave Herbert miscontrolled a pass and his two footed mid air attempt to rescue the ball as it rolled towards Dan Roberts saw the match referee produce a straight red card.
Roberts fortunately saw the challenge and managed to evade the midfielders size 9's and presentation of the full set of 12 studs!
Within 5 minutes of the dismissal Dan Roberts put Windsor ahead, meeting Fabio Nunes deep cross with a volley which deflected off of the defender and into the far corner.
Windsor comfortably saw out the remaining minutes of the half.
Chichester made a half time substitution but it was Windsor who scored the next goal, Matt Stockill smashing in from the edge of the area following exceptional work from Dan Roberts who beat two men before cutting the ball back.
Chances followed for Nunes, Ingram and Stockill. Stockill's effort a result of excellent link up play between Kai Davis and Nunes. At the other end, Victor Ocansey and Darren Abbey dealt with everything thrown at them, the impressive Ocansey covered every inch of defensive grass.
A mention for Hugo Sobte who caught or punched every aerial ball with little fuss and much skill.
As the minutes ticked away for Chichester and George Gould strangled the life out of every attack, the home sides discipline slipped.
The referee had every decision questioned and on 88 minutes the home full back Kieran Hartley was dismissed for an off the ball punch on the marauding Jamie Di Giuseppe.
There was still time for substitute Paul Coyne to collect a yellow card, but Windsor impressed with their attitude, intensity and game management.
