Windsor put their two game losing streak behind them to see off Croydon beating them 2-0 at Stag Meadow.
The home side welcomed back Jake Parsons following injury as they looked to keep the pressure on Guildford City at the top of the table.
Chances were slow to materialise but when they did they went the way of Windsor.
Ryan O'Toole struck low forcing a save from Francis Ameyaw only for referee Achegenui to award a goal kick.
Ameyaw again denied O'Toole by doing well to tip his free kick over the bar.
From the resulting corner Ameyaw was again in sensational form to deny Michael Chennells when he tried to hook the ball into the net.
The match turned in the closing moments of the first half when following a hard but fair challenge on Ben Porter in the box Jason Thompson decided to pull Porter to his feet.
This was interpreted as violent conduct by the referee's assistant and following lengthy discussions a penalty was finally awarded and Thompson given his marching orders.
O'Toole stepped up and hit his spot kick low which Ameyaw did well to keep out.
With a man advantage, Windsor stepped up a gear in the second half and were getting closer and closer with each attack.
Jake Parsons hit one post with a fine strike from the edge of the area followed soon after by Ryan Ashe hitting the other post.
Parsons found the post again after seeing of two defenders before Windsor finally took the lead.
Chennells played the bal into Ashe who did well to finish past Ameyaw with a low drive.
O'Toole was again denied, Parsons kept going close and Porter fired over from a couple of yards as Windsor looked to wrap the game up.
The match was put beyond Croydon in the final few minutes when substitute Rob Lazarczuk crossed for Chennells who swivelled to hook the ball past Ameyaw and into the corner.
