Seventh Heaven For Windsor

Windsor FC kept up the pressure at the top of the Combined Counties Premier Division with a 7-1 win away at Cove.

There was a surprise inclusion in the Windsor starting line up following the mid-week signing of Jake Parsons from Wealdstone.

Windsor piled on the pressure from the start and should have been awarded a penalty within the first 10 minutes when Joe Chandiram was sent tumbling in the box.

Jake Parsons then found Yashwa Romeo who's cross picked out Ben Porter who turned his effort wide of the post.

Romeo then came close himself when he was clipped by keeper Tom McNeil but still managed to get his shot off which was deflected wide.

From the resulting Chandiram corner Windsor finally took the lead when Kyle Anthony rose highest to head past McNeil.

Just moments later the lead was doubled when a long ball by Ryan Parsons from the half way line found the head of Romeo who sent the ball looping over McNeil and into the net.

It wasn't before a third came along via the penalty spot when Jordan Knight clipped Porter allowing Chandiram to slot in from 12 yards.

Calvin Thomas came closest to giving the home side any hope of staying in the match but his drive from the edge of the area was pushed round the post by Mark Banfry.

Windsor should have added more before half time with chances for Jake Parsons, Dapo Abitogun and Romeo all either saved or wide of the mark.

The second half saw no let up from Windsor as they increased their lead even further.

Jake Parsons cross was only cleared as far as the edge of the area by Paul Denness allowing Kyle Anthony to strike home his sides fourth of the game.

A momentary lapse allowed Cove to pull a goal back when Dean Thomas headed in from close range, but it would be no more than scant consolation.

Just two minutes later Chandiram restored the four goal cushion when he headed in Romeo's cross and just minutes after that Romeo added a sixth when he rounded McNeil.

Vinnie Bond was gifted an opportunity to grab a second for Cove when Ryan Ashe handled in the area but Banfry was equal to Bond's penalty kick.

Windsor added a seventh in injury time thanks to the head of Ben Porter and would have added an eighth had Kyle Anthony managed to have beaten McNeil from the penalty spot.
